Frontier Post orders six ATG Broadcast SAM-E audio monitoring units

Soho-based post-production house, Frontier Post, has ordered six ATG Broadcast SAM audio monitoring units as part of a £500,000 expansion project.
Four SAM-E and two half-rack-width SAM-E-T units will be supplied for incorporation into the company's expanded editing facilities.
Founded in 1992, Frontier Post offers a comprehensive service covering on-line finishing in HD and SD, graphics, compositing, audio dubbing, off-line editing, encoding, DVD authoring and tape transfers.
The new investment will add an on-line suite with HD capabilities and four offline edit suites on two additional floors above the current site at 66-67 Wells Street.
Frontier Post managing director Neil Hatton commented: "The SAM-E units provide versatile audio monitor control in a compact and robust form factor. Their purchase is part of an overall expansion in response to client requirements for increased capacity. We've just had our best ever quarterly figures and, for the past six months, have been bursting at the seams with increasing demand for broadcast and corporate editing."
A 2U rack-mountable audio monitoring unit, the SAM-E-2 incorporates dual peak-programme meters, integral confidence loudspeakers and full front-panel control. It can be housed in a control desk or engineering bay. The more compact SAM-E-1 is designed for use with in-vision audio level displays and external loudspeakers. Both models feature eight stereo inputs, digital carrier auto-sensing and amplified stereo outputs.
Operational facilities on the SAM-E range include button-per-channel selection of up to eight stereo analogue, AES or SDI-embedded digital sources. LED status displays indicate digital audio sampling rate (32, 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz), carrier presence and carrier-lock. Additional buttons enable phase reversal, audio monitor mute, dim, left/right monitor selection and left/right source cut. Signal level display can be switched from left/right to mid/side mode with +20 dB gain selectable on the side channel. Serial protocol connections are integral to the SAM-E system, allowing easy operation via local or networked broadcast automation.
