NVIDIA appoints Reality Computing as first European reseller for Gelato

NVIDIA Corporation has appointed Reality Computing as the first of its European resellers to bring NVIDIA’s GPU-accelerated movie renderer, Gelato, to the UK and Irish markets.
Reality Computing will be selling Gelato along with a variety of board bundles, workstations, and server solutions — all of which will include NVIDIA’s professional graphics solutions, the Quadro FX series. Reality Computing will also be working with NVIDIA to provide technical support to Gelato customers in this region.
“The criteria for selection of our resellers are the right combination of software and hardware experience as well as a clear commitment to end-to-end client support,” said Beth Loughney, general manager of the Digital Film Group at NVIDIA. “Reality Computing demonstrated all of these attributes and more, and we’re confident that our UK customers will be in safe hands.”
“Reality Computing is as much about partnerships as it is about sales, and particularly in the film industry where the stakes are high, a stable partner with a solid support organisation is absolutely key,” said Paul Brown, managing director of Reality Computing. “We’re excited to bring Gelato to the UK market and look forward to ushering in a new generation of movie rendering tools and services.”
Armed with the full feature set required by film and television production professionals, NVIDIA Gelato is set to revolutionise digital film production with speed, precision, and productivity increases never before seen in offline, film-quality rendering. Designed to create the highest-quality digital effects and animation, NVIDIA Gelato is the first commercially available application in the feature film segment to solve a critical problem — rendering — by using all of the mainstream hardware advantages available, such as floating point acceleration, 64-bit computing, PCI Express and multithreading.
