Seagate Foyle Film Festival calls for entries

Seagate Foyle Film Festival have announced that they are now inviting submissions for the festival competition from filmmakers all over the world for their 2004 festival.
Now in its seventeenth year, Seagate Foyle Film Festival has become firmly established as one of Ireland’s leading international film festivals. Previous winners have gone on to win an Oscar at the Academy Awards, including Eric Armstrong for his animation ‘Chubbchubbs’ in 2002 and Adam Elliot for his animation ‘Harvie Krumpet’ in 2003.
The festival, which will take place between November 19 – 28 in Derry, Northern Ireland, is expected to attract film lovers, filmmakers, actors, programmers, distributors, industry representatives and journalists from all over Ireland and the UK, as well as from Europe and North America.
This year’s programme includes the best in Irish, European, International and Contemporary films including classics, foreign language, documentaries, shorts and animation. The festival will also be offering cutting-edge masterclasses and seminars in special effects animation and industry focused events from acting to directing and composing to filmmaking, as well as a cutting-edge curriculum-based education programme, which offers tailor-made presentations and workshops for schools and colleges throughout Northern Ireland.
Competition screening categories include: Best Irish Short, Best International Short, Best Animation, Best Feature, and Best Documentary.
The duration for Short films must be between 3 and 40mins, but there is no time limit for the other categories (Feature, Animation and Documentary).
In addition to the annual competition the festival is dedicating some programme time in 2004 to screening digital films 'Out of Competition'. This gives the low budget short film and feature filmmaker the opportunity to showcase their talents alongside directors who work in film print.
Digital Screenings (Out of Competition) categories include: Short Live Action and Feature Films. The Duration for short films must be between 5 - 10 mins.
The deadline date for entry submission is 1st September 2004. Early Bird Entry by 19 July is free of charge. Thereafter fees of £5.00 will be charged if screening copies arrive by the 23 August and £10.00 if it arrives by 1 September. The festival has included an extended deadline of 6 September, where a fee of £20 will be charged. No entries will be accepted after this extended deadline date.
The application forms and rules and regulations for the competition are available to down load from the Seagate Foyle Film Festival website: www.foylefilmfestival.com.
