Bow Tie commission second HD truck and make new senior appointment

Continuing a programme of growth and expansion, Bow Tie Television has announced a new senior appointment and the commissioning of a new High Definition OB vehicle.
Duncan Smith will be joining Bow Tie in May as Sales & Marketing Director. Smith has operational and management experience of studios and post production. He was involved in the set up of London News Network's operations on the South Bank, designed, built and managed Planet 24's post production and for the last three years has been Facility Director at Soho based facility Nats.
"This is an exciting opportunity giving me the chance to combine skills developed over a number of years," said Smith. "I've watched Bow Tie grow into one of the front runners in the outside broadcast market and I'm looking forward to being part of a rapidly developing and expanding company."
Steve Fox and John Knopp of Bow Tie said: "We're delighted to have Duncan on board. He brings a wealth of experience to Bow Tie at a very exciting time as we move to new larger premises this summer and commission another High Definition truck keeping us at the forefront of television technology."
Bow Tie recently commissioned their second High Definition OB truck to complement the 13.6m long 20 camera, 12 VTR High Def production vehicle. At only 9.5m with rigid body and 1.2m expanding side, it is the most compact High Def truck in the UK and yet still capable of operating up to eight High Definition cameras and 10 High Definition VTR's.
"High Def jobs fall into two categories at the moment, the really big concert type venues or the more intimate 5 or 6 camera scenarios where the vision mix and all camera iso's are recorded. Our new compact truck will make High Definition more affordable for smaller productions," added John Knopp.
The truck will have a state of the art Calrec Zeta 100 digital mixing desk and a Thompson HD / SD vision switcher. Bookings have already been taken for August. In the summer Bow Tie will be moving to larger premises - a 13,750sq foot building within easy reach of the new North Kent Channel Tunnel terminal at Ebbsfleet.
