Welsh screenwriters invited to write for their breakfast

Sgrîn Cymru Wales is calling on budding new talents in Wales to help improve their skills and further their careers by attending a series of free working breakfast meetings.
The 'Script Breakfast', initiative is designed to help writers with their current projects, is searching for a maximum of five writers to meet on a monthly basis for the next six months, begins in April in Cardiff Bay.
Gaynor Messer Price, Short Film and New Talent Manager at Sgrîn says: “Script Breakfast will comprise a series of breakfast meetings to help writers work on their scripts and critique each other’s work, with the support of Sgrîn production staff.
“Some of the seminars will be attended by industry specialists, including top producers and development executives, who will give in-depth advice to group members.”
Launched in 2003, the scheme has already proved successful for Louise Adlam, a member of the original group of screenwriters, who has gone on to produce her own 10-minute film The Penny Collectors, with production company Those People. The film was screened on Wales Cinema Day, February 23 at Neuadd Dwyfor, Pwllheli.
To join Script Breakfast, the following criteria must be fulfilled:
  • You should not have had a feature film script produced;
  • You should currently be working on a specific script/project (your Script Breakfast work will be based around this project), which may be a feature film, or a short film and it should be a single project, not a television series;
  • You should be prepared to attend the whole programme of six monthly seminars.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on the March 26, 2004.
