POLECAM IN THE GARDEN

POLECAM have just finished shooting the forthcoming series of ‘Charlie’s Gardening Neighbours’.
The series, presented by Charlie Dimmock, shows six sets of neighbours transforming their gardens. Director Dave Smith chose to use Polecam because of its quick set-up time, portability and picture quality.
He said: “ Polecam was able to do many locations in one day which I could not have done with a conventional jib. We had six gardens to cover and some of them more than once a day. I think I got four times as many good quality, useable shots than I would have done had I not had Polecam.”
Polecam owner/operator John Gillan was even able to walk through the families homes with the rig: “As the show is in a docu-soap style the interesting hotspots were changing all the time, but because Polecam is lightweight and can also be worn in a harness, this meant I could relocate to where the action was very quickly and get some great shots.”
‘Charlie’s Gardening Neighbours’ airs for six weeks on BBC 2 from the November 9.
