QuVIS to launch new postproduction and digital cinema servers at NAB 2004

At NAB 2004, QuVIS is to launch a new range of video servers that support the playback of 2K and 4K data in addition to HD formats.
The new introductions address the increasing needs of the postproduction, digital cinema, presentation and rental and staging communities. In addition to displaying the QuBit ST and DS digital disk player/recorders, the company will introduce the new QuVIS Studio Series, QuVIS Presentation Series and QuVIS Cinema Series of products at the National Association of Broadcasting Conference (NAB-Booth SL1252 at the Las Vegas Convention Center) in Las Vegas April 19 - 22, 2004.
The new generation of servers employs Quality Priority Encoding (QPE) architecture, a patented process that has given QuVIS products a reputation for unsurpassed image quality in the digital display and post-production arenas. These systems provide visually loss free and highly efficient imagery, plus 12 independent channels of digital audio. Standard and custom formats range from NTSC, PAL and HD through 4K Academy. The highly efficient storage provides practical options for electronic transfer and storage of high-resolution images.
The Studio Series includes three variations: the QuVIS Acuity HD, QuVIS Acuity 2K and the QuVIS Acuity 4K. This line of servers, specifically designed for the production and postproduction industries, offers a single platform with a ‘Virtual Tape’ architecture that allows users to incrementally move to a digital disk based workflow. The Studio Series provides the ideal postproduction working environment for storage, transport and archive. Designed to fit seamlessly into a high-resolution production environment as a disk-based VTR replacement, the system includes standard professional video I/Os, as well as high-speed data I/Os including Gigabit Ethernet and QSDTI. Software tools and an SDK for the Windows and Linux environments provide custom integration with third party tools, high-speed electronic transfer, automated QC opportunities and low-level integration.
