QUEEN TOURS MAJOR INDUSTRY FACILITIES
THE Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited various media locations on Wednesday November 28 as part of a broadcasting-themed day aimed to show support for the British broadcasting industry.
The first engagement was a visit to the set of 'EastEnders', where the royal couple met cast members and production crew.
While the Duke visited the film sets, the Queen walked through the 'EastEnders' street market and watched a rehearsal in the Queen Vic, named after her great-great-grandmother.
The royals also visited BBC Television Centre, where they watched a rehearsal of 'Blue Peter' and met past and present presenters of the long-running children's programme. The Duke also visited the BBC World Service, spending time in the Persian and Pashto sections.
The schedule also included London's ITN Studios, CNN and Classic FM.
The Queen met Sir Trevor McDonald at ITN before being shown news-gathering equipment used to cover the war in Afghanistan.
The day finished with a reception at Buckingham Palace for people working in the broadcasting industry, including back-room production staff, presenters and reporters.
