Sanyo launch HD LCD projector

Sanyo has announced the launch of its PLV-HD10 High Definition (HD) LCD projector.
With a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the PLV-HD10 dramatically reduces the cost of true HD projection, while maintaining the very high quality standards required in this sector. Based on the proven and highly successful Sanyo PLC-XF41/45 chassis, the PLV-HD10 uses a unique four lamp system and 3 x 1.65” polysilicon LCD panels with micro lens arrays to give a brightness level of 5,500 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 1000:1.
A new 20 bit progressive scan video system and 12 bit colour-processing (giving 68 billion colours) means the PLV-HD10 can accurately reproduce the very high image quality generated by the latest HD camcorders and editing systems.
Ease-of–use and set-up flexibility is ensured with motorised zoom, focus and lens shift (up/down/left/right) as well as electronic keystone correction and a range of eight optional lenses. Standard input terminals are DVI-I, RGBHV/Component/S-video/Composite via 5 x BNCs and a dual SD/HD SDI board. There is a fourth input slot left free and all input boards are interchangeable. The unit can be monitored and controlled via a LAN with the optional network board.
At 38kgs, the PLV-HD10 is less than half the weight and size (and one third the cost) of the only other projector in the world capable of displaying true 1920 x 1080 resolution. This portability and cost effectiveness will allow true HD projection in more places than ever before, giving many producers and directors the chance to see and preview their work on a big screen for the first time. It will also provide an alternative to the relatively small HD monitors currently used in postproduction, allowing the amazing detail of HD to be effectively studied and appreciated.
The PLV-HD10 is a revolutionary projector that will mean a massive leap forward in the way HD content is displayed, adding further to the already strong move towards HD in TV and film production.
All HD formats are fully supported as well as standard video, making the PLV-HD10 suitable for all types of digital film and video content. Applications are expected to include post-production, digital dailies/rushes, screening/preview theatres, private cinemas, cinema alternative content (including live event relay) and the hire market.
The PLV-HD10 has a list price of £49,995+VAT and is available now.
The first unit has already been sold to Anna Valley Displays and is available for hire by calling +44 (0) 208 941 1000.
