Channel 4 make final call for West Midlands talent search

Organisers of Channel 4's Ideasfactory scheme are urging talented film and music lovers from across the West Midlands submit entries to a new search designed to discover untapped talent.
The talent search, launched in October 2003, is looking for musicians with a keen interest in film to submit a short soundtrack idea. The 16 finalists from the region will get the opportunity to work in a studio alongside industry experts including MOBO-award winner Nitin Sawhney. The overall winner will have their soundtrack recorded professionally.
Andy Anderson from Ideasfactory said: "This is the perfect opportunity for musicians to break into the lucrative world of soundtrack production and work alongside some of the biggest names in the industry - even if they have little or no previous experience.
"We've had unprecedented interest in this project with over 600 people attending workshops and screenings across the region. Traditionally, London has been the leader in this field, but now the West Midlands has a chance to bridge the gap."
The closing date for entries is January 9 2004. Those interested in applying should visit www.channel4.com/ideasfactorywestmidlands for full details.
