PACE AND OPENTV ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

PACE Micro Technology, one of the world’s largest dedicated developers of digital home gateway technology, and OpenTV one of the world’s leading interactive television companies, have announced a partnership which will enable the companies to offer a fully integrated interactive TV solution to cable operators.
Pace and OpenTV have integrated OpenTV’s middleware and Device Mosaic application technology with Pace’s Di4000 interactive cable home gateway. The combined solution is a new option for cable operators and is expected to accelerate their speed to market through the use of proven and fully integrated technology. Open TV supplies middleware to over 20 million set top boxes worldwide while Pace was recently confirmed as the world’s third largest digital cable set top box suppliers. Open TV and Pace will market their combined solution to operators throughout the world.
Pace’s Di4000 enables cable operators to provide many advanced interactive TV services, including video on demand, high-speed Internet service, and Voice over IP (VoIP). It is already being deployed by cable operators in the UK and is fast becoming the de facto standard for digital cable in Europe. Open TV’s middleware enables full two-way connectivity, and its Device Mosaic application allows HTML content to be played on non-PC devices. (CD)
