Pepper complete ‘Auf Wiedersehen Pet’ fourth series

Pepper recently completed the grade, conform and online on the fourth series of ‘Auf Weidersehen Pet’, the much loved tale of the nation’s favourite ‘brickies’.
The original cast of Timothy Spall, Tim Healy, Kevin Wheatly, Jimmy Nail, Christopher Fairbank and Pat Roach reunite with relative newcomer Noel Clarke for their latest adventure, which takes them to St Petersburg, London and eventually Cuba.
The six part series was shot on Super 16. Pepper colourist Chris Beeton needed to create a look that would reflect all three locations and so give them a sense of place. St Petersburg and London had to feel cold – not an easy task when the latter was basking in one of the hottest summers on record. With temperatures soaring into the 30s and a cast was sweltering in coats, Beeton pulled out all the stops to produce a stylish, contemporary grade. In addition to this, the programmes also contain some stock footage of St Petersburg. Shot on tape, this needed to blend seamlessly with the rest of the project and so was treated with a filmic effect.
In contrast, the sequences set in Cuba needed to feel hot. In order to achieve this Beeton imbued the footage with reds, orange and yellow tones – creating a good contrast with to the northern European scenes
Chrissy Skinns, producer, commented: “Chris, as always, did a fantastic job with this footage especially - giving these scenes a wonderful 1950s feel with rich, warm colour – perfect for Cuba.”
