Pepper complete Hardy drama grade and online

Pepper have recently completed the grade and online on the forthcoming production of Thomas Hardy's 'The Mayor Of Casterbridge', a Sally Head Productions project for ITV.
Georgina Lowe, producer, Sally Head Productions, said: "I have always found Pepper to be professional, with extremely talented teams and so was keen to take the project there. We specifically wanted Chris Beeton for the grade, as he's an excellent colourist. They certainly lived up to their reputation and did a wonderful job for us."
Beeton's brief was to ensure the grade not only reflected the storyline but also enhanced the carefully created production design and work seamlessly with Strasberg's approach to the lighting. Shot on 16mm Kodak stock, the footage was filmed with maximum use of natural light, with very little artificial illumination used on set. Working on Ursa Diamond, Beeton desaturated the colour and increased the density of the blacker tones to achieve the utmost contrast and so create the required gritty, dark mood.
Shane Warden, who completed the online and titles in Avid|DS, added: "The online and fx work consisted of painting out various 20th century objects such as TV aerials, chimneys of the wrong period and telegraph wires. The titling was created with Designer Christine Buttner and composited to create a gritty atmosphere that would complement the story and hallmark each episode."
