News Image
The National Film and Television School (NFTS) has announced that it has appointed BAFTA-winning Producer Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting; Ex Machina; 28 Days Later), Channel 4's Head of Drama Beth Willis (Ashes to Ashes; Doctor Who) and actor, TV Presenter, comedian and creator and co-writer of pioneering sitcom, Citizen Khan, Adil Ray OBE to its Board of Governors.

Andrew Macdonald, Beth Willis and Adil Ray join the Board at a time when the School is undergoing considerable expansion with students benefitting from state-of-the-art new facilities including the UK's first 4K training studio. The School has also announced it is to open a new hub at BBC Scotland's studios in Glasgow and Dumbarton Studios in April 2018, which will significantly enhance vital skills provision arising from the expected growth in film and television production in the country.

Andrew Macdonald said: "It's a pleasure to be joining the board of governors at the NFTS. I am particularly pleased that the School is opening a hub in Scotland; it's an exciting time to work in the screen sector in Scotland and it's excellent news that the NFTS is catering to the projected growth in this area by providing practical, job focussed training."

Beth Willis added: "I'm honoured to be asked to join the NFTS board of governors. I'm passionate about championing the next generation of writers and producers and ensuring we have an exciting pipeline of new drama coming through. The NFTS does a fantastic job of finding and nurturing talent and I can't wait to make my contribution."

And Adil Ray also said: "I'm delighted to be joining the NFTS board of governors. It's such an exciting time to be in the industry right now and it's fantastic to be part of an institution that produces such a diverse range of graduates who go on to work in all areas of film and television. I look forward to working with the team to help open doors for the next generation of students from all backgrounds."

Patrick McKenna, NFTS Chairman concluded: "I would like to add my welcome to Andrew, Beth and Adil and look forward to working with them. It's vital to have a board that represents all sectors of the industry so that the NFTS can continue to build its worldwide reputation for delivering excellent film, TV and games education and attract some of the world's best creative talent onto its teaching programmes. The NFTS has both the expertise and the track record to ensure that Britain remains a world-leader in the production of audio-visual content."
