Commonwealth Film Festival 2004 calls for submissions

The Commonwealth Film Festival have called for submissions of new features, shorts and documentaries from across the 72 countries of the Commonwealth, to be showcased at the festival in Manchester between April 30 and May 9 2004.
The submission deadline is January 25 2004 and there is no entry fee. The Festival is now a highly anticipated landmark on the British cultural calendar and will take up a multitude of screens and party venues across the city centre. As one of the largest film festivals in the UK, it attracts distributors and film buyers from across the globe and this year boasts twice as many screens. New films by celebrated Commonwealth filmmakers will be premiered at Gala Screenings every night of the festival, as well as new works from emerging artists showcased throughout the 10 day festival, alongside a full programme of discussions, seminars and workshops involving visiting filmmakers, critics and academics.
The focus will be on original and personal films with the potential to entrance a diverse audience, as well as films and filmmakers who together define what the Commonwealth is and can be at the dawn of the 21st century.
To be eligible films must have been produced with or within one of the 72 nations of the Commonwealth, and completed after November 1 2001. Features, documentaries and shorts (including animation and experimental) are welcome in all formats.
