BSI Delivers For Masters Golf

News Image
Broadcast Sports International (BSI) recently delivered 17 Real Freedom microwave systems to CBS Sports for their coverage of the 81st edition of the Masters Golf Tournament.

A total of 16 receive sites were placed throughout the course and driving range so that the cameras and operators could roam unhindered over the course and follow the golfers into the rough when the drives were sliced.

The cameras had previously been connected to the truck via fibre, but the move to RF cameras gives them the ability to roam the fairways and surrounding areas and increase their storytelling potential.

H.264 encoders helped show the early spring beauty of the course in all its glory.

BSI also used a bespoke return video system so that all cameramen could frame their shots around the graphics. This also ensured the announcers on the course could see the coverage from the cameras.

The announcer microphones and portable effects microphones operated on BSI's 1.4GHz wireless microphone system.
