Cinelex – The Future Of Universal Wireless DMX

News Image
UK-based Cinelex launched Project Spectre with a view to create and set the universal standard in professional wireless DMX controls.

Following in-depth research and from talking to the world wide lighting market it has been apparent that for some time the industry has been looking to standardise on a robust, easy to use, plug and play wireless DMX system, that importantly will work with any DMX controllable light.

It also became clear that although useful for small individual owner operator set ups, Bluetooth type systems that rely on a smart phone or iPad for control and communication were not suited or trusted by the more professional broadcast, film and lighting rental companies as such systems require too much support and do not withstand the rigours of professional & rental use.

By implementing the very latest wireless DMX-RDM technology Cinelex can now offer the universal standard that has long been demanded, especially by the international lighting rental market, with the introduction of the Spectre series of wireless DMX products.

The Spectre TRX is a truly universal wireless DMX control system designed to work seamlessly with all DMX lights regardless of manufacture. Each Spectre TRX unit can operate as either a transmitter or receiver so the system is dually universal. The dual TX / RX feature enables users to simply pair two units or multiple receivers can be paired to one transmitter for larger multi light set-ups. Operating up to distances of 100m the duality of the Spectre TRX does away with the need for users to invest in dedicated TX & RX units as one does both.

Securely mounted between a light's battery plate (V-Mount or Gold Mount) and the battery, the compact Spectre TRX has a similar footprint to a regular camera battery and is the world's first wireless DMX system to be powered via the same battery powering the light, although it can also be powered via its own AC adaptor or other battery / DC device. A range of other mounting options and accessories are also available as well as splitter cables to allow powering from a light's own AC adaptor. The TRX also benefits from a signal strength indicator for added confidence.

With Spectre, transmitting wireless DMX control is accurate and easy to setup too. There are two transmission options either connect the paired transmitting TRX to any DMX desk or use the new Spectre DESK-TRX8 wireless DMX mini-desk. The portable DESK-TRX8 has its own internal transmitter that can also be paired with any number of the TRXs and is at home on both studio and location sets.

With some newer light fixtures being fitted with an integral wireless DMX RX at point of manufacture, you are still covered by the Spectre TRX & DESK-TRX8 as they will transmit to, communicate with and control lights that use the most popular WDMX protocols.

Made in Europe all Cinelex Spectre products are manufactured to the highest engineering standards and comply with all common standards CE, RoHS, FCC, etc.

Launching April 2017 the Spectre series has been designed for the professional lighting market and having been pre-launch tested in the rental market it is already starting to set the new standard in universal wireless DMX control.

The Spectre range is be distributed by Octica Professional and will be available to order from all professional lighting dealers from April 2017.
