ON-AIR STUDIO GOES LIVE IN LONDON

ON-Air Systems have opened a new virtual-set studio at their sister company Connexion's London headquarters, adjacent to the British Telecom tower.
The studio will be available as a demonstration and training facility for potential and existing users of equipment produced by On-Air Systems.
On-Air Systems managing director Matt Vidmar, commenting on the new facility, said: "On-Air VANity has expanded into one of the widest product ranges in the broadcast industry, all based on the familiar and cost-effective PC-platform and all proven for single-channel and multi-channel scheduling, preparation and transmission. On-Air Studio concentrates many features into a physically and operationally small space, allowing immense savings both in equipment and staff costs. Our new production facility allows potential buyers to obtain hands-on experience of On-Air Systems equipment in an off-line or live-to-air environment. The new camera controller combines the flexibility of GUI-based studio operation with the speed and tactile feedback available from traditionally-configured hardware."
The 6.5m x 5.5m studio incorporates Fujinon-lens-equipped Panasonic AW-600 and AW-800 3-CCD broadcast cameras on robotic heads. These are operated by a desktop robotic controller which is exceptionally versatile in being able to handle a practically unlimited number of cameras, each with a unique IP address. The controller will be introduced as a stand-alone product in early 2002.
Based in London, On-Air Systems produce end-to-end PC-compatible networked desktop television broadcasting software enabling multi-channel capture, browse editing and programme scheduling, automated single and multi-channel playout with graphics and web-streaming. Applications are IP controlled, fully automated and compatible with most popular broadcast industry file formats.
