VER London Delivers Disney's Broadway Hits

VER London recently assisted in delivering the European premiere of Disney's Broadway Hits at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The show, by the BBC Concert Orchestra, was a celebration of the songs behind some of Disney's best known musicals. Hosted by John Barrowman, the show featured appearances by Mary Poppins' Ashley Brown, The Lion King's Alton Fitgerald White and eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, all supported by an ensemble choir featuring students from the Royal Academy of Music and ArtsEd.

For the production, VER London was selected as the rental partner and supplied crew, equipment and logistics, allowing the US creative team to get straight to work at the venue. Delivered and ready for use in just five hours, the equipment package required to capture the show in 4K included 17 cabled and remote Panasonic camera systems controlled via a bespoke fly-pack built around Evertz routers, Kayenne switching and Riedel communications.

Commenting on the project, Jay Hatcher, Broadcast Video Director Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said: "Disney Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall was not just an amazing show for us to produce, it was also an opportunity to showcase what we (Broadcast Ops) can do internally for our partners, in this case Disney Theatrical.

"There was a lot of pressure on us to pull this off. With VER we had 100% faith in their capabilities and expertise and we knew they would take ownership of the show. Our timetable on site was very tight and to get a 17 camera 4K system up and running in half a day is no small task. Our relationship with the US VER team has always been fantastic and having them manage our integration with the London VER team that was onboard to execute this event was a key factor to our success. The London team was amazing and really hit a home run in delivering a spectacular show."
