Inscriber products chosen for Radio-Television of Afghanistan

Inscriber's CG-Supreme and CG-FX character generators, along with the AutoCG MAX newsroom automation solution, will provide the television graphics for Radio-Television of Afghanistan (RTA).
CG-Supreme is a powerful character generator that provides dynamic graphic and text creation. AutoCG MAX is Inscriber’s CG automation option. The RTA will use AutoCG MAX to playout templates created in CG-Supreme. In its 'direct control' mode AutoCG MAX allows station staff to quickly and easily broadcast templates. If necessary, operators can manually interrupt the automation process, and correct or edit graphics and text.
In addition to being installed in the news studio and master control room, these products will also be implemented in the RTA’s OB van for remote broadcasts.
The equipment is being supplied as part of the Overseas Development Assistance Fund by the Japanese government. This program, in conjunction with Japanese Inscriber partner, AVA Co. Ltd., is also providing technological training to the RTA to restore broadcasting in Afghanistan.
“The RTA needed a diverse solution that could support Afgan Dari and Pashto fonts, was easy to use, and would allow them to grow”, says Doug Strable, Asia-Pacific Regional Sales Manager for Inscriber. “Inscriber products delivered on all these requirements in ways the closest competitor couldn’t match.”
The RTA recommenced operations in December 2002, following a media ban by the Taliban regime. They have since been building a wide variety of programs, including entertainment shows, dramas, animated shows, foreign movies and music shows.
The new studio, complete with Inscriber products, opens November 2003 in Kabul.
