Africast Debut For PlayBox Technology Solutions

News Image
PlayBox Technology has announced that its Neo and CloudAir solutions will make their Africast debut later this month. The show takes place in Abuja, Nigeria, from 18 to 20 October, and company representatives at the event include Ananth Sam and Ben Gunkel.

"African broadcasters have long viewed PlayBox as an aspirational brand thanks to excellent customer references right across the continent," said Ben Gunkel, Chief Commercial Officer, PlayBox Technology. "Operators, owners and engineering staff alike appreciate the intuitive control interface and very high reliability of the PlayBox AirBox product family. We have our own software and hardware development teams and so retain full control over every aspect of all our designs.

"AirBox forms the core of many national, regional and special-interest channels. Operators particularly like the freedom AirBox provides to switch between schedule-driven automation and live playout of content such as late-breaking news.

"Africast delegates will be able to experience every module in the Neo product series. This now comprises AirBox Neo, ProductionAirBox Neo, AdBox Neo, CaptureBox Neo, EdgeBox Neo,TitleBox Neo, QCBox Neo, SafeBox Neo and TimeShiftBox Neo. These are available in any desired combination to match a specific current workflow. Neo-based systems can be expanded at any time to match extra requirements."

Ananth Sam, Director of Solution Sales, PlayBox Technology, added: "Introduced in January 2016, the Neo series has proved a big success worldwide. It is available as a free upgrade to all existing AirBox owners who have, or sign up to, a valid annual software maintenance and technical support contract. The Neo series includes many new features developed in line with our long-term commitment to the AirBox platform, including UHD compatibility.

"For broadcasters interested in virtual playout we will also be talking about the capabilities of CloudAir. Available on a software-as-a-service basis, CloudAir allows a channel to go live in far less time than is needed for traditional server-plus-software or dedicated hardware systems. Using CloudAir, a broadcaster based in any country can now quickly and easily launch a channel for viewers in any other region or territory. CloudAir also provides a basis for an off-site disaster-recovery facility."

PlayBox Technology can be found at Africast 2016, 18 – 20 October, Stand B49.
