Imagine Communications Supports New Channel Launch At MRTV

News Image
Imagine Communications has deployed its Versio integrated playout solution to support the launch of a new channel for Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV), the MRTV Entertainment Channel.

To speed deployment and reduce the need for complex maintenance, MRTV Entertainment Channel deployed Imagine Communications' Versio, which combines best–in-class automation, branding, graphics, file server, storage and master control capabilities in an entirely integrated environment.

Versio simplifies the creation and management of MRTV Entertainment Channel and enables the company to extend its brand and content with more freedom, visibility and control than ever before.

In addition, the Imagine Communications solution provides MRTV Entertainment Channel viewers with access to high-quality content and graphics, which in turn leads to a better viewing experience.

Myo Min, managing director of MRTV Entertainment Channel, said: "Imagine Communications' Versio integrated playout solution answered all our needs for lower maintenance, investment and reduced power consumption.

"This space-saving solution ensures all our broadcast requirements are met without the need for extensive rack space associated with traditional playout solutions."

Myo Min continued: "MRTV Entertainment Channel is an existing user of Imagine Communications' proven networking and compression solutions and our experience with the company over the years has been excellent. Additionally, the company's ongoing investment in research and development across its large broadcast technology portfolio and its well-established global reputation for driving innovation in the media and entertainment industry made it the right choice for us."

The MRTV Entertainment Channel is broadcast on Digital Terrestrial on DVBT2 across the country and airs movies and educational programs. Since the 2015 General Elections, Myanmar has been carrying out media reforms, which include the transformation of state-owned broadcasting into public service broadcasting.

Joe Khodeir, senior vice president Asia Pacific at Imagine Communications, also said: "The deployment would have taken longer to implement using traditional solutions, such as separate automation, servers, master control and graphics.

"Versio comes in a single, powerful and highly reliable package which means fewer spares, less cabling and less maintenance requirements for the MRTV Entertainment Channel engineering team. By delivering the first integrated playout deployment in Myanmar, we have taken an already-strong relationship to the next level."
