Atomos' Shogun Inferno Now Shipping

News Image
The Shogun Inferno by Atomos is now available for shipping, it has been announced. Also at IBC2016, a number of new feature announcements were made, including ARRI and Panasonic HDR Raw recording, increased PQ & HLG compatibility for playback to HDR screens, and wider support from editing packages for mobile HDR editing.

In addition to HDR functionality, the Shogun Inferno features 1500nit high bright, 10-bit monitoring with Scheduled Playlist and metadata tagging.

Also unveiled at IBC2016, was a new partnership between Atomos and G-Technology, which sees a direct integration of the Atomos Master Caddy into the G-Technology ev Series workflow solutions. The Master Caddy system is used throughout the entire Atomos range and delivers Apple ProRes 4K HDR for under $150 per hour. Now, the same affordable SSD drives can remain loaded in the Atomos Master Caddy after the shoot, loaded into a G-Technology ev Series Reader (Atomos Master Caddy edition) and be used across the range of G-Technology ev Series desktop editing systems and high performance RAID systems.

Jeromy Young, CEO and Co-Founder of Atomos, said: "We've seriously changed the monitor world with the combination of HDR and High Bright daylight monitoring – the image we create for a field monitor rivals the quality you see with high end studio monitors. For the price, we basically include recording, playback and editing for free. The Shogun Inferno is our final piece in the HDR puzzle. Arming high end cameras and filmmakers with the high frame rate, high resolution, high dynamic range & high brightness monitoring, recording and playback needed to get the most from the amazing sensors crafted by ARRI, Sony, Panasonic, RED and Canon – we truly do upgrade these amazing solutions."

The Shogun Inferno will ship from the end of September; US $1,995 (excluding tax), EU €1,995 (excluding VAT).

The Atomos Master Caddy by G-Technology is available this month with the following configurations:

• SSD-based version – 256GB (US $149.95), 512GB (US $249.95), 1TB (US $349.95)
• HDD-based version – 1TB (US $99.95)
