NEXIS Training From root6

With Avid Learning Partner Professional (ALP) status, root6 offers a range of certified courses for Avid ISIS and NEXIS shared storage at its training facility in central London or, by arrangement, on-site at customers' premises.

In addition to ISIS and Interplay courses, root6 is the first ALP in the UK to provide full NEXIS courses for those new to Avid shared storage and for those certified on ISIS wanting to migrate to the NEXIS platform. Courses vary in length from 1-3 days and are designed for editors, engineers, system administrators and media managers.

The Avid Certified System Administrator for Avid NEXIS certification validates an individual's capabilities of performing the tasks associated with ongoing operation and maintenance of an Avid NEXIS system once it has been put into production. This includes how to create and manage workspaces, check system status, troubleshoot issues, create and understand user accounts, connect to clients, mount/dismount workspaces, configure a multi-engine system, and deal with hardware failures. The certification also demonstrates a basic understanding of system maintenance and troubleshooting of the Avid NEXIS|PRO, E2 and E4 hardware.

The NEXIS System Support course leads to ACSR accreditation for NEXIS and is designed for those personnel responsible for these high-performance, mission-critical systems. Achieving the ACSR for Avid NEXIS certification status demonstrates an individual's ability to install, configure, administer and support Avid NEXIS, along with the ability to connect, configure, and troubleshoot the system. Candidates meeting the Avid ACSR Programme pre-requisites and who pass the exam are Avid Certified Support Representatives (ACSR) for NEXIS shared storage.

For ISIS Administrators a two-day course is offered in which students will learn how to administer their Avid ISIS 5000 system. Course elements will cover the replacement of a failed data drive and the configuration of storage groups and workspaces. Students will also learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the System Director and ISIS Chassis hardware.

In a three-day course for ISIS 5000 System Support, students will focus on the installation, administration, and architecture of Avid ISIS 5000; learning to connect, configure, and troubleshoot the system. Lab work and exercises give students practical experience in integrating systems and applying troubleshooting techniques. This certification course culminates in an exam. Candidates meeting the Avid ACSR Program pre-requisites and who pass the exam are Avid Certified Support Representatives (ACSR) for Shared Storage.

Avid Interplay for Editors is a 4-hour course, where students gain essential knowledge about interacting with the Avid Interplay workgroup environment through the editing application. This course is designed for new or experienced editors using an Avid storage solution with NewsCutter or Media Composer and the Avid Interplay non-linear workflow engine.

The Interplay Administration course is designed for administrators responsible for the setup and day-to-day operation of components in an Avid Interplay workgroup environment. Over three days, students will learn how to administer the Avid Interplay Engine and Avid Archive Engine (if applicable), and how to work with databases in the system. Additional topics include naming conventions, deletion strategies, deletion protection, daily and weekly maintenance, and archiving. This course (or equivalent experience) is a required pre-requisite of the Interplay ACSR path.
