Tektronix To Showcase New Capabilities At IBC2016

News Image
Tektronix has said it will demonstrate a number of new product features and capabilities at IBC2016, including technologies such as 4K, HDR, wide color gamut and video over IP.

The company's full range of video test and monitoring solutions will be on display. This includes Prism which will help media companies make a practical transition to IP while still preserving existing investments. A software-defined platform, Prism can accommodate a range of applications and will be continuously updated as new technologies and standards emerge.

Prism will be joined by the SPG8000A master sync and PTP grandmaster clock generator which comes with optional, software-only field upgrade to add PTP (IEEE 1588) support for both traditional SDI-based and IP-based media infrastructures.

High dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut (WCG) are gaining importance when it comes to acquiring high resolution 4K content. To assist camera operators, editors and colorists in capturing and manipulating high fidelity content, Tektronix will introduce a range of HDR capabilities for its WFM/WVR 8000 series waveform monitors and rasterizers. The new capabilities will allow users to set correct white point and adjust levels to fully use the dynamic range of their content.

With regard to the increased adoption of Over-The-Top (OTT) media services, Tektronix will unveil a number of enhancements to its Aurora automated QC solution at IBC2016. The upgrades include new perceptual video quality (PVQ) scoring, support for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, and support for the AS-10 PAD delivery specification for testing content delivered to French broadcasters. Complementing Aurora will be Hydra, a new interactive player and analyzer for file-based content with expanded codec and wrapper format support.

For comprehensive monitoring and quality assurance of multi-screen services, Tektronix will showcase its Sentry ABR platform that includes decryption and decode functionality. Sentry ABR gives service providers the depth of monitoring they are accustomed to with linear-based services, including comprehensive QoE analysis on each stream at each bitrate in real time.

Charlie Dunn, General Manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix, said: "Tektronix has the experience, tools and applications to carry our customers into the future as they embrace a range of exciting new and emerging technologies. We encourage everyone in the industry who is facing these transitions to stop by our stand during IBC to see our latest solutions for managing the transition to IP infrastructures or monitoring and optimizing 4K, HDR and ABR content."

Tektronix will be at Stand 10.D41 at IBC 2016.
