FR3 order 30 Broadcast Technology DTVD3000 decoders

French state broadcaster France Regions 3 (FR3) have placed an order with Broadcast Technology for 30 DTVD-3000 MPEG-2 modular professional monitoring decoders.
The decoders will be installed at FR3's Monitoring Centre in Paris.
Introduced at IBC 2002, the DTVD3000 decoders were chosen after comparative tests by FR3 at the Villa Le Mistral technical evaluation facility.
FR3 senior engineer Pascal Veiland headed the evaluation team: "The DTVD3000 decoder passed all tests including recovery from power failure and from loss of input. In addition to the usual decoder features, it incorporates a genlock input, which allows the decoder to be synchronised to station reference. We are particularly impressed by the decoder's very fast recovery time, relocking in four seconds when individual channel modules are hot-swapped. The DTVD3000 is unusual in having dual inputs, allowing rapid change of incoming channel. Space-saving was another major benefit. The 3000 modular system can accommodate 14 decoders in just 3U which is way ahead of the competition."
Although the DVTD3000 will initially be used for 8 megabit/s monitoring, it enables FR3 to comply with the EBU requirement that broadcast networks be capable of handling 4:2:2 component digital video at up to 50 megabit/s data rates.
Delivery of the 30 DTVD3000 decoders will take place during March.
