BBC Announces New Commissions

News Image
A number of new factual and entertainment commissions have been announced for BBC One and BBC Two.

A total of five new factual formats have been confirmed for BBC One Daytime. They include 'Ill Gotten Gains' which follows Regional Organised Crime Units and Police Forces who take down criminals in Britain by seizing their assets and selling them at auction, of which the money goes back into the public purse.

'Dom On The Spot' sees the return of Dominic Littlewood who will spend time with those officials who issue fines for criminal offences, such as fly-tipping and speeding. He will also meet the victims affected by them.

The commission of 'Street Auction' will follow Flog It host Paul Martin as he works alongside Danny Sebastian and Irena Aggrey to raise money for a deserving member of a local community through discovering hidden treasures found in their street.

In 'Going Back, Giving Back' Aled Jones will accompany someone on a journey back through their personal history as they seek out a way to give something back.

In addition, a pilot of 'United Nations Street' focuses on the daily challenges and triumphs of Narborough Road in Leicester – Britain's most diverse street – where shopkeepers from 22 nationalities live and work side by side.

A new 45-minute format of 'Claimed And Shamed' has also been recommissioned for a 20-episode run on BBC One. It will be presented by Ore Oduba.

Bill Turnbull will host 'Think Tank' on BBC One in the afternoons, which has been recommissioned for a 30-episode run.

Meanwhile, over on BBC Two, two entertainment shows will air during the 6pm to 7pm slot.

'Make Me An Egghead' will see Jeremy Vine search for two new Eggheads – one female and one male.

The second is 'Debatable', where comedian Patrick Kielty will ask members of the public to answer some challenging questions following light-hearted but informative discussions featuring a range of well-known faces.

Commenting on the commissions, Controller for Daytime and Early-Peak, Dan McGolpin, said: "I am committed to bringing through new and distinctive series to sit alongside existing favourites on BBC One in Daytime and on BBC Two in Early-Peak. These new programmes will include original investigative journalism, compelling and heart-warming stories about inspirational individuals and captivating entertainment shows that will challenge even the most formidable quizzers."
