BBC launch Incite Production Suite

BBC Television's Factual Production Department installed their premier Versioning Unit production suite based entirely on Incite Editor, SAN technology and Incite's hybrid editing features.
The system was designed to meet the BBC's specific requirements by Gee Broadcast Systems – Incite’s dealer in the UK. The final production suite features Incite Editor workstations as well as secondary Incite Media Assistant stations sharing digitised media on a Storage Area network.
The stations will be used for postproduction, providing content to BBC 2 Daytime, BBC News24 and BBC World, and have a direct roll in Talking Movies and Top Gear.
Martin Everard, Executive and Series Producer for General Factual Group at BBC Production, said: "VLAN and hybrid editing are two of the deciding factors, setting Incite apart. The ability to control multiple VTRs, integrate live feeds on the timeline from multiple tape sources, mix with disk-based video, graphics and effects and print directly to tape… simply put, is an incredible resource for faster production."
The BBC chose Incite to make use of the hybrid edit function and the versioning unit which involves making only small changes to an existing programme. The most cost-effective aspect of the facility is that all the users need not be trained videotape editors and the whole job can be completed in the one facility.
Matching Incite Audio Plus with Incite Editor's ability to cut video quickly, as well as work with a wide range of real-time FX and timesaving templating, was another advantage for the type of production required. Live mixing and recording plays a principle roll in the production workflow, allowing dubs directly on the timeline in sync with video production, and gives thorough control over audio levels and effects like dynamics and parametric EQ.
The Incite Training Centre in Geneva Switzerland played a crucial role in familiarizing the editorial staff with Incite's basic editing interface.
Incite’s product line offers professional end-to-end solutions to efficiently capture, cut, finish, and deliver high quality video and audio in a collaborative workflow environment. Incite Multimedia supplies versatile and scalable products for today's content creators delivering to TV, the web, tape or DVD.
