APTN and ABC form archive alliance

Associated Press Television News (APTN) and Australia's national public broadcaster, Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) have formed a new alliance to represent archive material.
The agreement will see a significant exchange of specially prepared content between the two Libraries, covering areas of particular interest.
They range from Australian wildlife and locations to social history and Australia's Indigenous Peoples. From APTN the content will cover diverse areas from terrorism and international conflicts to entertainment celebrities and bizarre events.
APTN will represent the ABC's archival material non-exclusively in Europe and the United Kingdom, and the ABC will represent APTN's archival material non-exclusively in Australasia and South East Asia.
Each Library will continue to have rights to license ongoing news material provided as part of the relationship between the parent organisations. As a client of APTN's, the ABC receives APTN's daily news and entertainment feeds, while APTN acquires stories from ABC News for inclusion in its international feeds.
APTN Head of Content Development, Christopher O'Hearn, said: "This is an excellent development to our relationship, expanding both the content and the commercial incentives for both sides. We are pleased that the foremost broadcaster in Australia is flying the flag for APTN, and we welcome their content into our own Library."
