Aurora Lighting Hire Selected For 'Later... With Jools Holland'

Aurora Lighting Hire has once again returned to the studio with Lighting Director Chris Rigby for BBC music show, Later... with Jools Holland.

Recorded in front of a live audience at the Maidstone Studios, Later is serious about its music and consideration was required for the lighting through all aspects of the production. The studio audience were instructed to wear dark clothing so as not to detract from the performance, while the brief for the show is to enable the music to speak for itself. The lighting therefore needed to complement this, rather than overpower the musical content.

To achieve the looks required to accompany a mix of artists and musical styles, Aurora provided Mr Rigby with a range of automated heads and a selection of LEDs to allow the versatility to illuminate both the 'floating' set pieces and the stage floor, whether it be large-scale rock or an intimate choral performance.

The installation features over 100 automated heads including Martin MAC 575 and Vari Lite VL300 spots, allowing Rigby to quickly shift between moods. Martin MAC Aura Washes and Rush PAR 2's helped illuminate the minimalist set, while Clay Paky Goldenscan HPE were also added for 'ice cold' HMI beams that dissect the layers of colour.

In addition, Aurora supplied a host of LED fixtures and Martin's MAC Quantum Wash, both of which help the company fulfil its commitment to seeking out energy efficient solutions compatible with the Albert sustainability programme.
