Scopus launch E-1200 professional MPEG-2 DVB encoder

Scopus Network Technologies have announced the introduction of a new professional MPEG-2, DVB encoder, the E-1200.
Scopus’ new E-1200 advanced MPEG-2, DVB Encoder is designed to meet the high-end market of professional broadcasters. With broadcasters seeking to improve picture quality and save transmission costs in an emerging broadcast environment, the E-1200 optimises the encoding process, particularly at low bit rates. Utilizing Look-Ahead architecture, enhanced pre-processing algorithms and motion complexity estimations techniques, the E-1200 provides superior picture quality.
The E-1200’s TriplePass processing addresses multi-channel environment, mainly for Direct-to-Home application over satellite, as well as video over ADSL applications.
For a multi-encoding environment in a statistical multiplexing configuration, dynamic bit-rate at variable bit-rate mode of operation is executed for each encoder. The allocation is performed in advance by predicting the required bit rate of each encoder in relation to the others. Complexity estimation is performed to enable optimisation of the compression parameters so that the encoder can more efficiently compress video at low and constant bit rate, applicable mainly for single encoder environment for the Telco market.
