PerceptionTV Adds To Multiscreen IPTV/OTT Platform

News Image
PerceptionTV has announced the addition of a regionalisation version of its fully scalable multiscreen IPTV/OTT platform. The functionality will allow content providers, TV start ups and aggregators to personalise the platform by brand image, viewer location, and regional content.

The Perception platform delivers a complete OTT multiscreen TV service integrating the four key components of TV – live TV, catch-up TV, video-on-demand and cloud-based PVR – into one user-interface. PerceptionTV is a complete out-of-the-box solution delivering content to any connected device anywhere, anytime. The company also handles the management of content from source to consumption, enabling total control and cost savings.

The new regionalisation feature enables PerceptionTV to offer support for broadcasters using the core features, while also presenting and managing individual propositions to regional viewers. These individual attributes could vary by targeted regional advertising and local programmes. By using the PerceptionTV regionalised platform operators can benefit from centralised data and encoding with added control and flexibility.

For example, PerceptionTV's regionalisation capability would provide a hotel chain with an effective solution for the delivery of entertainment to TV screens both in room and on tablets in public areas via Wi-Fi. It can then be configured further to provide branded services to multiple rooms, buildings and hotels across the country. The platform could be branded dependent on location – referencing local tourist spots and tailored by regional content so could differ by offering BBC South or BBC North to ensure that hotel guests have access to the correct weather forecast no matter where they are staying, for example.

The regionalised platform could also be used by content providers to allow viewers to tune in to their local channel subscription via mobile devices when on the go.

John Mills, CEO PerceptionTV Ltd, said: "How people consume TV is changing. People want to watch programmes and video anywhere, anytime so operators need to be agile enough to deliver this dynamic TV experience. The demand for flexibility comes hand in hand with people's desire for personalised content. The regionalisation functionality achieves this by allowing content providers to strategically manage a number of regions with differing content via one efficient, cost friendly platform."
