SMCF Selects Polycom, Foliateam For Its Unified Communications Systems

News Image
Polycom, Inc., has confirmed that SNCF, France's national train operator, has selected Polycom and its partner Foliateam to replace and modernise the company's unified communications systems, as well as to virtualise its production and pre-production infrastructures.

Following a public call to tender and an independent assessment of the technical value, SNCF separately selected a supplier and a service provider to replace the infrastructure, upgrade the video collaboration systems for the company and deliver a workplace of the future for the employees of the company.

By selecting Polycom and Foliateam, SNCF has chosen a solution that will integrate with the company's existing systems, and enables secure and centralised management of its cloud based infrastructure. Polycom video collaboration systems deliver the best-in-class image and sound quality with minimal use of bandwidth and maintain high performance levels regardless of congestion on IP networks.

Cloud infrastructure will make SNCF's communications systems easier to manage. In addition, Polycom's video collaboration solutions will enable the company to improve the efficiency of communications processes and increase the speed of decision-making. Foliateam will also roll out virtual meeting rooms (VMRs) that will enable SNCF employees to hold face-to-face meetings with their colleagues based at any of the other locations, without having to leave their offices.

The agreement also includes core services for maintaining the existing video collaboration systems, extending the current base of over 1,000 Polycom SoundStations with new audio collaboration terminals, and introducing video collaboration and Microsoft Lync equipped workstations in SNCF's new office buildings.

The virtualisation of production and pre-production platforms will enable SNCF to manage the off-network calls with partners in a more effective and secure way. 300 new systems that have already been successfully deployed and many more that are presently underway, will provide SNCF's employees a new means of collaborating over audio and video as well as conducting training and support program proposed by Foliateam. The extension of the existing collaboration platform will improve communications within the organisation and consequently also help deliver better services for SNCF's customers.
