Fiona Bruce Marks 100 Antiques Roadshows Ahead Of New Season

News Image
BBC journalist, presenter and broadcaster Fiona Bruce is to mark her 100th Antiques Roadshow this Sunday, as the show unveils the new locations for 2015.

The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral hosted Ms Bruce and the Roadshow experts last September during a recording that saw over 1,200 people bring along artifacts and antiques from their families' histories. The episode will be broadcast this Sunday on BBC One and marks Fiona Bruce's 100th appearance.

She said: "I can't believe I've reached 100 Antiques Roadshows. How did that happen? Time has flown by. What is constantly surprising to me, even into my second century of Roadshows, is how our visitors continue to bring along a wealth of objects with fascinating stories and some remarkable values. That moment when the experts hold someone's fate in their hands – pennies or millions – is what the Antiques Roadshow is all about."

The venues for this year's Antiques Roadshows are:
• RAF Coningsby, near Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire (Thursday 28 May)
• Plas Newydd , Llanfairpwll, Anglesey, Wales (Thursday 4 June)
• The Royal William Yard, Plymouth, Devon (Thursday 11 June)
• Broughton Castle, near Banbury, Oxfordshire (Sunday 21 June)
• Bowood House, Calne, Wiltshire (Thursday 25 June)
• Bolsover Castle, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire (Thursday 9 July)
• Walmer Castle, Deal, Kent (Sunday 19 July)
• Balmoral Castle, near Ballater, Aberdeenshire (Thursday 30 July)
• Trentham Gardens, near Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire (Thursday 3 September)
• Lyme Park, near Stockport, Cheshire (Thursday 10 September)
• Hanbury Hall, near Droitwich, Worcestershire (Sunday 20 September)
• The Royal Hall, Harrogate, North Yorkshire (Wednesday 28 October).

Attendance at the show is free and no pre-registration or appointment is required. More information is available at bbc.co.uk/antiquesroadshow

This Sunday's Antiques Roadshow, BBC One, 20:00 from Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, includes a collection of items belonging to Captain Arthur Rostron, the man in charge of the Carpathia on the night it received the fateful message that the Titanic had struck an iceberg.

The family story behind the collection will be explored in a new series presented by Ms Bruce, Antiques Roadshow Detectives (BBC2, 18:30 from Monday 6 April). In the series, Fiona and familiar faces like Hilary Kay, Paul Atterbury and Andy McConnell explore intriguing stories behind family heirlooms featured on the Antiques Roadshow.
