Plug-And-Play: Riedel's NAB 2015

Riedel will be showing several new products at NAB 2015 representing their commitment to providing solutions that give users more options to build and work within broadcast ecosystems.

With the increased use of existing network infrastructures for signal delivery and management, Riedel has been hard at work ensuring that customers can embrace whatever standard THEY prefer as they leverage these networks. By supporting RAVENNA/AES67 as well as AVB and our own standards, we give customers plug-and-play simplicity on the standard of their choosing. Each of these standards has plenty of resources available, including trade organisations, to help users to get up and running quickly.

A year ago Riedel unveiled the MediorNet MetroN Core Router, enabling users to configure robust and highly redundant MediorNet installations in a variety of demanding applications without any concern over bandwidth limitations. At the 2015 NAB Show, Riedel will unveil a new MediorNet device that will add increased flexibility and convenience to new and existing MediorNet real-time networks. We are keeping this under wraps for now but please come by the stand and see for yourself!

The next three products were introduced at IBC 2014 and NAB will see their North American launch. All three are now shipping.

The new RSP-2318 Smartpanel offers features and capabilities that will change the way broadcasters and AV professionals communicate. Smartpanel boasts three high-resolution, multitouch TFT displays; stereo audio; a multilingual character set; and 18 keys in just 1RU. Smartpanel can also be expanded through the use of apps, the first being an innovative intercom panel. Ravenna/AES67 and AVB connectivity are standard, with AES3 over CAT/coax optional. Additional features include exchangeable headset connectors, integrated power supply, individual volume controls, two USB, two Ethernet, GPIO, audio I/O, removable gooseneck, SD card slot, and HDMI output.

The Tango TNG-200 represents Riedel’s first network-based platform supporting Ravenna/AES67 and AVB standards. The unit is equipped with a high-resolution, full-colour TFT display and is app-based to facilitate a myriad of uses. Along with powerful processing capabilities, Tango features two Riedel digital partylines, two Ravenna/AES67 and AVB-compatible ports, two Ethernet ports, one option slot, and redundant power supplies. The dedicated intercom application, ‘My First Riedel’ turns Tango into a 40 x 80 matrix intercom system that users can tailor to their needs.

The STX-200 professional broadcast-grade interface brings any Skype user into the professional broadcast environment. Licensed by Microsoft, STX-200 is a reliable, single-box solution that brings live contributions from reporters and viewers into live programming — all while avoiding problems such as consumer PCs running common Skype clients, external scan and HDMI-to-SDI converters, or audio dropouts and menu pop-ups on the live feed. The 1RU box offers broadcast-quality HD-SDI and balanced XLR audio I/Os and is packaged with professional Microsoft Skype TX software. The solution’s broad feature set includes remote management and call monitoring.
