Interactive Technologies select Philips' STBs and CryptoWorks
Philips' set-top boxes and CryptoWorks conditional access (CA) system will be at the heart of Bulgaria's first digital direct-to-home (DTH) satellite platform.
Bulgarian DVB TV broadcaster Interactive Technologies has chosen Philips to supply OpenTV set-top boxes and the CryptoWorks CA system to secure the digital pay-TV operations.
Philips' STB/CA combination with OpenTV middleware already decodes digital transmissions for more than 600,000 subscribers in Turkey ('Digiturk' DTH). Now, the proven combination is helping Interactive Technologies cut time-to-market for its operational launch (planned for October-November 2003).
Interactive Technologies, with shareholders, Central Investment Group Holding, Luxemburg and BIKAM Ltd. Bulgaria, presently boasts some 1.2 million domestic customers and 1.5 million abroad, mostly in Europe. The company is introducing its DTH pay-TV business, including pay-TV subscription and pay-per-view services.
