Hiltron To Introduce New Products At CABSAT 2015

News Image
Hiltron Communications has chosen CABSAT 2015 for the Middle East & Africa market introduction of two major additions to its product range.

The HANT-C-Ku dual-band 3.7 metre satellite downlink antenna and HMFC motorised feed-change mount will both be promoted. Exhibiting on stand B420 in Hall 4, Hiltron will be represented by Managing Director Jan Molter.

Hiltron HANT C-Ku dual-band 3.7 metre satellite downlink antenna

The HANT C-Ku is a high quality 3.7 metre antenna for professional satellite signal monitoring or receive-only services. A closely integrated feed system enables the HANT C-Ku to receive simultaneously the two linear polarised Ku band signals and the circular or linear polarised signals in C band. With a motorised polariser, the feed can be switched in C band between linear and circular polarisation. These sources can be converted to six independent L band outputs.

Hiltron's HANT C-Ku has a very wide range of applications including satellite performance assessment, digital newsgathering and cable-network head-ends. It provides reliable and accurate positioning far beyond the stability of commercial grade actuator devices. The very high rigidity of the HANT C-Ku's construction ensures absolute minimum backlash. It can operate in winds of up to 125 kilometres per hour and survive storm conditions of up to 200 kilometres per hour.

The antenna control is designed for IP-based operation from a PC running a graphic user interface compatible with standard web browsers. The control GUI displays all information required to set and maintain azimuth, elevation and polarisation, including current position, target positions and a database of potentially accessible satellites. The same GUI can be used to select polarisation, the beacon-tracking receiver and the signal source matrix.

Hiltron HMFC motorised feed-change antenna mount

HMFC motorised feed-change antenna mount. The HMFC allows easy positioning of repositioning of waveguide horns on a motorised tray table. It can be used for antennas of various types and sizes. Two waveguide horns of different sizes can be attached, allowing signals from satellites operating in two different frequency bands to be received electrically selectable via a single antenna. Movement of the table is controlled via the Hiltron's HACU antenna control software. The waveguide horn for a desired frequency band can be aligned into the focal point of the reflector within 20 seconds.

The Hiltron HMFC can perform automatic changeover of the operational feed as well as sequential measurement of different frequency bands. Available options include inclined-orbit tracking, high-accuracy optical encoders, extended temperature tolerance and increased protection against exposure to salt water. A handheld control for manual alignment, plus integral de-icing can also be specified.

Operation is via an IP-connected PC. The HMFC's control GUI displays all the information required to set and maintain azimuth, elevation and polarisation, including current position, target position and a database of potentially accessible satellites. Once a satellite is selected, precise access parameters can be calculated at the press of a single button. Azimuth and elevation can be adjusted at up to three different speeds. Typical travel rates are 2.5 degrees per second (azimuth), 1.7 degrees per second (elevation) and 3.0 degrees per second (polarisation).
