NTP Technology Announces New Capabilities Ahead Of AES

News Image
NTP Technology has unveiled new monitor control capabilities for its AX32 analog/digital/analog mic/line interface and DX32 digital audio matrix.

The new features allow full control directly from Avid Artist, S6, MC Pro and 5-MC control surfaces and will be introduced at the AES Convention in Los Angeles, October 9-12.
"This extended capability delivers improved efficiency both in live recording and post-production," says NTP Technology Sales Director Mikael Vest. "Monitor control is made via NTP DADman software using the Avid EUCON protocol. The software can be preconfigured by the user or administrator to allow a variety of input and output combinations. Full control of the AX32 and DX32 is then provided.
"Matrix settings, signal levels, summing, talkback, cue mix, fold-down and mix-down functions can be selected or adjusted direct from the Avid control surface. Control room monitors, individual monitoring, cues, stems and signal inserts can all be managed flexibly, quickly and easily.
"All audio formats can be configured, including 5.1 to 9.1 surround up to 32 channels. The AX32 and DX32 can also be controlled directly from our DADman software."
Housed in a 2U chassis, the AX32 is designed for use in audio recording, mixing as well as post-production. It allows large multi-microphone arrays to be accommodated without the need to transport a second processor. Up to 48 microphone feeds can be connected back to the control room along a single Cat 5 cable via fully transparent and uncompressed IP Ethernet.
The optional microphone preamplifier provides up to 72 decibels of analog gain, 123 dB dynamic range and an equivalent noise floor of -133 dB. The AX32 comes as standard with interface for Avid Pro Tools and eight AES/EBU and MADI inputs and outputs. It can optionally be fitted with a Dante IP audio interface and two optical MADI interfaces.
The DX32 is a digital audio bridge and router interface designed for applications such as multi-room recording studios, post-production facilities and audio distribution installations. It allows all digital input and output routing to be managed within a single unit or a combination of units. With near zero latency, the DX32 can be used to expand I/O channel count and interface digital components, providing a high quality bridge between
AES/EBU, MADI, Avid Pro Tools HDX and the Dante IP audio network. At its core, the DX32 is a 384 x 384 router which can patch any input to any one or more outputs on a mono channel basis. Sampling rates of up to 384 kilohertz and Super Audio CD formats such as Direct Stream Digital are supported.
In its interface role, the DX32 provides up to 192 channels on one electrical MADI I/O port and two optical ports, 64 channels on Pro Tools HDX, 16 AES/EBU channels and 64 channels on Ethernet Layer 3 using Dante IP audio technology.
The AX32 and DX32 have identical audio processors. The AX32 frame can additionally be equipped with analog and 3G SDI audio cards.
Exhibiting on stand 1038, NTP Technology will be represented at AES Los Angeles by Mikael Vest and Jan Lykke.
