QuBit chosen for New York Skyride

The QuBit, QuVIS' resolution independent, high-definition motion image server, was recently employed by the TechnoMedia Solutions for the newly refurbished New York Skyride.
The New York Skyride, a thrilling, multi-million dollar, flight simulator attraction located in the Empire State Building, lets visitors feel the sights from the comfort of a specially equipped, motion simulated, big screen theatre seat. It is an awesome aerial tour of New York City that takes a trip around, above and even below all that the City has to offer. Through the magic of advanced flight simulation, New York Skyride puts the passenger in the middle of the action.
The ride had previously used 35mm film, but the producers decided to switch to digital for the advantages of easier maintenance. The two identical rides now feature JVC DLA-M5000 projectors fed by two QuBit ELs and playing to 18' x 18' screens. "The front seats of the motion base are less than 10' from the screen so we went through a number of tests to make sure we could present a great image to those guests in the front row," commented TechnoMeida Solutions' Mike Carroll. "The image quality, reliability and ease of use put QuBit ahead of the rest and the combination of the QuBit and the JVC M5000 created an image that equaled the 35mm film system they were replacing."
