Grass Valley Announce Cross Promotion With Canon

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its widely used EDIUS multiformat nonlinear editing software, Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, has announced a cross promotion with Canon.
For a limited period, anyone who purchases a Canon EOS C100 digital video camera can download the latest version of Grass Valley's EDIUS Pro 7 editing software for free.
This promotion coincides with Canon's upgrade of its EOS C100 camera with a new function called continuous recording, which is supported by EDIUS Pro 7. This feature provides access to the in/out marker information placed by the camera and is available as a firmware update on the Canon website.
"Canon customers are eager to take advantage of the latest capabilities of Grass Valley's EDIUS Pro 7. Now, with the purchase of our newly-upgraded Canon EOS C100 camera, together we have made that possible," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and chief operating officer of Canon U.S.A., Inc.
EDIUS Pro 7 is a proven solution for editors working on fast-turn production in broadcast news, news magazine and studio program content, as well as professional video editors working on organizational, documentary and 4K theatrical productions. Features include:
• Support for super-intensive media operations, such as multilayer 4K and 3D editing
• Open to third-party input and output hardware from Blackmagic Design and Matrox
• Multiformat support, automatic program update checking, updated MPEG and H.264/AVC performance, and faster handling of large quantities of still image files
"It's exciting for us to partner with Canon on this promotion because it enables filmmakers and video professionals alike to take advantage of the most sophisticated multiformat nonlinear editing software available, as well as the high-quality features of the EOS C100," said Mike Cronk, senior vice president of strategic marketing, Grass Valley. "We engineered EDIUS Pro 7 to stand out from the competition, and the fact that it can edit in real-time without rendering results in a huge time savings for those working under tight production schedules."
Users who purchase a Canon EOS C100 camera in a sales promotion area between April 1st and December 31st 2014 (and between April 1st and August 31st in US, Canada & Mexico) are eligible for a full, free copy of EDIUS Pro 7 nonlinear editing software.
