Edifis wins major Netherlands contract

Edifis has won a major contract from the leading Netherlands post-production company, Ciris BV, for two Brick component digital disk recorders and a Scratchbox-equipped Sting.
All three units have been delivered and installed for use in film and tape grading and restoration at the facility's Hilversum premises. The purchase was made via Edifis Netherlands reseller, NICE, based in Appeldorn.
The decision to choose Edifis equipment followed detailed product comparison and evaluation. Edifis has a proven reputation with many broadcast and post-production clients for the reliability of its disk recorders and the no-compromise use of uncompressed 4:2:2 video with AES digital audio. For manual retouching, Scratchbox offers a degree of speed and flexibility unsurpassed by any other system.
Richard Lilley, Edifis Sales Director, commented: "Uncompressed storage on affordable disk media with a robust operating system has again proved its advantages over slow and inflexible video tape machines. In its telecine application, Brick enables a colourist to select a reference frame, mix/wiping between this and ungraded material in order to obtain uniform optical balance throughout a programme or sequence. This hitherto required a stillstore, mixer and additional recording channel."
Formed in July 1997, Edifis has achieved a high reputation worldwide for large-capacity broadcast-quality uncompressed digital video and audio systems and image restoration equipment.
Edifis hardware and software are independent of third-party computer manufacturers or operating systems, allowing highly reliable products to be produced at cost-effective prices to meet the rigours of outside broadcasting and on-air transmission.
