BBC Announces Fast Train Updates

The BBC Academy and Creative Skillset have announced further details for the Scottish and Welsh training programmes, Fast Train Scotland (24 October) and Fast Train Cymru (7 November).

Fast Train Scotland
The BBC Academy in conjunction with Creative Skillset and Shed Productions have announced a competition to coincide with Fast Train Scotland, aimed at people who are attending the event and are interested in writing drama.
Entrants are tasked with writing and submitting up to three scenes for UK TV drama Waterloo Road, picking a character from the programme and creating a storyline as an expansion on a current theme, or a completely new scenario.
Scenes will need to be in script format and no more than 6 sides of A4, with up to 200 words of context.
Up to six finalists will be announced in advance of Fast Train Scotland.
The finalists will then be invited to take part in a bespoke workshop, where senior execs from the Waterloo Road production team will critique each of the shortlisted scenes.
The session will be an open forum for all the finalists to develop their knowledge of the script development process and gain constructive feedback from the industry experts as well as from each other. As part of the workshop, the execs will also advise the finalists on the process of script and story development for Waterloo Road.
The competition closes on 16 October. For more details and how to enter: The author, broadcaster and journalist Muriel Gray will give the keynote speech at this year's Fast Train Scotland at BBC Scotland's Glasgow headquarters Pacific Quay on 24 October.
Muriel will be joined by BBC Scotland Director Ken MacQuarrie.
