'Show Me The Money' at the RSA

An impressive line-up of senior distribution executives and independents with experience of the international marketplace have been confirmed to speak at 'Show Me The Money', a one-day event organised by Pact and the British Television Distributors' Association (BTDA).
The event, to be held on June 5 at the RSA in London, is specifically about the value of the international marketplace and the cost of distribution.
Included in the speaker line-up are Rupert Dilnott Cooper (Carlton International), Ian Jones (Granada International), Paul Sowerbutts (Channel 4 International), Christina Willoughby (Chrysalis Distribution), John McVay (Pact), Alex Graham (Wall to Wall), Katy Thorogood (Discovery) and Oliver Ellis (Entertainment Rights).
The idea behind Show Me The Money will be to unlock the value of rights, but also bring producers and distributors closer together. Nuts and bolts sessions will look at the value of the international marketplace – the major territories and the revenues that can be garnered from each – and the cost of distribution, what is required to set up and maintain a distribution arm.
There will also be focuses on the different genres -– fiction, documentaries and animation – concentrating on trends; examples of properties that have worked internationally and properties that haven't (despite having been a success in the UK), and highlighting the major partners overseas. The day will aim to provide some hard facts and numbers about what revenues are realistically achievable outside the UK and how you can best access them.
