Soho spins on Chyron’s Axis technology

Chyron Corporation's innovative small router solution, the Pro-Bel Axis family, continues its successful reach into the heart of the UK's broadcast community in London's Soho.
Two more key facilities houses - the Thomson-owned Technicolor Creative Services (TCS) and The Moving Picture Company (MPC) - have confirmed the purchase and installation of Axis technology.
TCS, which provides a wide range of services from refining and manufacturing content to in-cinema content delivery, has installed an Axis 16 x 16 HD router for the company's brand new HD Datacine film-to-tape conversion suite.
MPC, at the forefront of the digital post-production sector providing visual effects and computer animation to the advertising, music, TV and feature film industries, has installed a master Axis 16 x 16 analogue video router as well as a separate Axis analogue audio slave router. Both are acting as local routers for edit suite monitoring. Senior Engineer Simon Precious confirmed that the Pro-Bel kit was selected because of its high quality.
These two significant orders follow on from Soho facility The Mill's decision to install an Axis 16 x 16 HD router towards the end of last year. The Mill, which specialises in high-end commercials and music promos, was winning significant HD business and therefore needed a dedicated, but compact, resource for this demanding aspect of its business. The Axis installation was part of a major Pro-Bel order that saw the facility upgrade its infrastructure significantly whilst still being able to interface with its existing solutions.
