Dataton Launches Watchout Version 5.5 At Infocomm

News Image
The latest version of Dataton WATCHOUT™ multi-image display and presentation software brings a number of new features such as hardware assisted synchronisation, frame blending, dynamic IP addressing of individual computers, cluster naming and insertion of URL based images. The company has also announced the shipping of its WATCHPAX™ solid-state media server with embedded WATCHOUT that has been upgraded to accommodate several newly introduced video output format compatibilities.
Lars Sandlund, Chief Operations Officer at Dataton, says: "The new features of version 5.5 ensure that WATCHOUT is the most powerful multi-image display and presentation software available in the market today. Our customers are always finding new ways of using video display technology. To support them, Dataton invests heavily in its in-house research and development of software and hardware to constantly innovate WATCHOUT, keeping it ahead of coming trends in video and display and to meet future imaging requirements."
Jim Testa, President, Show Sage adds: "The new features of version 5.5 will be popular with our customers who are using our Show Sage server hardware. We expect that the new WATCHOUT version 5.5 will amaze visitors at InfoComm 13. To promote the new version we will be hosting hourly booth demonstrations to allow visitors to interact and test out the new features."

New features of WATCHOUT version 5.5 include:

- Updated WATCHOUT playback functionality in WATCHPAX media server

WATCHPAX now provides hardware-accelerated playback of HD video in H.264 and MPEG-2 encoding formats. WATCHOUT also supports playback of QuickTime Animation as well as H.264 video in MOV files.

- Hardware Assisted Synchronization

When run on display servers which utilise certain AMD FirePro™ Workstation Video Cards and a companion ATI FirePro™ S400 Synchronisation Module, WATCHOUT now supports hardware-based synchronisation of the video outputs allowing users to play back frame-accurate synchronized content across multiple computers.
Using the "gen lock" feature of the S400 Synchronisation Module, users can lock an entire WATCHOUT rig to an external sync source.

- Frame Blending

Frame Blending harmonises any differences in frame rate by smoothly blending frames together in a few simple steps, eliminating the need to skip or double frames.

- Dynamic IP Addressing of Individual Computers and Clusters

It is now possible to dynamically or self-assign all computer names and IP addresses in complex video systems. In addition, it is possible to assign a name to an entire cluster group of display computers to be used in a show.

Dataton will exhibit at Booth 3915 at InfoComm 13 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL, from 12-14 June 2013.
