Canopus launch analogue video to DV media converter

Canopus Corporation, makers of award-winning, digital video editing systems, have announced the release of the ADVC-50 analogue to DV converter for Macintosh and Windows-based Systems.
The ADVC-50 media converter allows video enthusiasts, using Macintosh and Windows-based systems, to convert analogue video source material to DV quickly and inexpensively.
The converted DV streams are transferred to Macintosh or Windows-based computer systems via IEEE 1394 (i.Link/ FireWire) and stored on the hard drive where they can be manipulated using popular photo or video editing applications. The ADVC-50 is a cost-effective solution for users of OHCI and DV-only capture cards that need to edit analogue video.
To deliver the highest quality video, the ADVC-50 features Canopus's DV codec technology which is found in the full line of Canopus DV capture cards. The ADVC-50 can then either go into the computer's five-inch bay, or an open PCI bus slot removing the need to installing any drivers or software as the unit will work as a standalone device.
ADVC-50 can be powered from the PCI bus or the internal 4-pin power plug. The ADVC-50 provides a 4-pin i.LINK connecter on the back panel and a 6-pin internal i.LINK connector. S-Video and Composite Video inputs are also located on the back panel.
Mark Evans, Managing Director of Canopus UK, said: "The ADVC-50, like our ADVC-100, addresses the issues that other converters neglect – like video quality and convenient connections. Add the convenience of a bay and an affordable price to the fantastic video quality delivered by our Canopus DV codec, and the ADVC-50 is the perfect choice for video enthusiasts."
Based in London, Canopus UK distributes the Canopus range of award-winning, nonlinear video editing products for video professionals and enthusiasts to UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Benelux and Africa.
