Vietnamese broadcaster chooses Harris DVB-T transmitter

Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), a Vietnamese provincial TV station, have purchased a Harris DVB-T transmitter for a trial digital transmission project.
Key features of Harris's DTV640/750T DVB-T transmitter include a sophisticated air cooling system, a web-based graphical user interface, alarms which can be sent by SNMP or email, and high compactness and modularity with a wide range of options. In addition, HTV opted for a state-of-the-art exciter from Harris' DTV 660 series.
Thai Hanh, vice manager of the HTV technical management department, said: "For this project we needed a medium-power DVB-T transmitter that has the same control mode as other high-power transmitters.
"This is so the operators will experience a smooth transition to the high-power transmitters that will be installed when official digital transmission begins."
The trial begins on April 30 2003 and will run for one year before the project is officially launched.
