Eyeheight Introduces LE-2M-K Legaliser To The US

Eyeheight is set to introduce its LE-2M-K legaliser to the American television broadcast and facilities markets at the April 2013 NAB Convention in Las Vegas.
Unlike traditional video legalisers or automated loudness control devices, the new LE-2M-K keeps a timed log of every non-compliant video or audio event requiring correction in the course of a 24-hour transmission schedule. This enables broadcasters to archive a record of as-run conformance data in countries where legislation makes this compulsory. Each action is logged complete with its linear timecode identifier. Video legalisation and loudness correction timelines can also be monitored on-screen.
Video legalisation can be performed to conform with SMPTE or EBU standard settings and 7.5 IRE or 0 IRE Pedestal. Six user memories and common presets are incorporated.
Additional features of the LE-2M-K include Eyeheight's unique clobberRing automatic luma overshoot and undershoot suppression together with luma and chroma gain, black level adjustment, hue rotation, adjustable clipping levels and soft-clipping-knee levels. An 'out-of-gamut' indication feed displays overshoot or undershoot severity and shows the user where on the picture any signal correction is being performed.
In the audio domain, the LE-2M-K provides automatic real-time control of perceptual loudness and true peak level using ITU-R BS.1770 multi-channel loudness and true-peak estimation algorithms. These are coupled with proprietary correction algorithms to ensure compliance with loudness and peak-programme level requirements. Embedded stereo or surround audio loudness are continuously monitored, system gain being seamlessly adjusted across all channels to stay within the loudness limit while preserving audio imaging.
Eyeheight's LE-2M-K auto-detects incoming SDI or HD-SDI video at 1080i/50/59.94, 720p/50/59.84, 625/50 or 525/59.94 and applies the appropriate legalising format. It then ensures that incoming video is held within user-selected colour-space parameters: RGB; YUV; composite (PAL or NTSC); or RGB-and-composite combined.
Based on Eyeheight’s proven geNETics platform, the LE-2M-K has two independent HD-SDI outputs plus a monitoring output. Processing is to full 10-bit depth throughout the system. Multiple modules can be accommodated in a 1 rack-unit 19 inch chassis for operation under local control from an Eyeheight FP-9 generic control panel. All geNETics products incorporate an Ethernet IP-networked control interface and can be operated via a unified hardware or software menu system giving easy access to each relevant parameter.
Exhibiting on booth C6516, Eyeheight will be represented by Sales Director Martin Moore with colleagues from US master reseller Leader Instruments Corporation.
