Content Television Makes 'Amber' International

Content Television has secured new international sales for the innovative four-part drama Amber, produced by Ireland’s Screenworks for RTE.
Amber, a gripping story focusing on the impact of a girl’s disappearance, has been acquired around the world by broadcasters including DR Denmark, SVT Sweden and Israel’s Hot Drama via Dori Media Spike. Satellite platform DirecTV in Latin America and Globosat in Brazil have also secured the drama, alongside Allarco for Canada’s Super Channel, Netflix’s subscription VOD service in the US and NBCU Global Networks in Australia.
Saralo MacGregor, Executive Vice President Worldwide Distribution, Content Television and Digital said: "We have received tremendous interest from our international clients for Amber and are very pleased to announce this first round of deals from across the world. This is a powerful drama that plays on fears and emotions we can all relate to; the team at Screenworks have done an outstanding job in portraying this complex and compelling story."
Paul Duane and Rob Cawley of Screenworks, creators of Amber, added: "We were very confident in the international potential of Amber as part of Content Television’s drama portfolio and are delighted with these initial acquisitions. The structure of the story is highly effective in drawing audiences in over the four episodes and unexpected twists will keep viewers guessing what happened to Amber until the very end – creating a very involving drama that is perfect for international primetime schedules."
Produced and created by Rob Cawley and Paul Duane (Secret Diary of a Call Girl), Amber was co-written by Cawley and Gary Duggan and directed by the IFTA-award winning Thaddeus O’Sullivan (Single Handed). Set in Dublin and starring Eva Birthistle (Waking the Dead), Lauryn Canny (A Thousand Times Good Night) and David Murray (Raw), the 4 x one hour psychological drama follows the investigation into the sudden disappearance of 14-year-old Amber Bailey.
Tackling the devastating and emotional story of the missing teenager from different viewpoints, each episode focuses on the perspective of one individual connected to the case as first her family, then friends, then complete strangers become drawn into the quest to find out what happened. Over four episodes, Amber’s non-linear time structure plays with the chronology of events. Clues are revealed gradually, creating a suspenseful drama full of psychological insight and unexpected twists as the girl’s disappearance has an impact far greater than anyone could imagine.
