APRS Awards Industry Key-Players

The 6th annual APRS Sound Fellowship Awards Lunch will see some of the music industry's biggest names recognised.
The ceremony will be held at the Roof Gardens, Kensington on Tuesday 20th November. Alison Wenham, CEO of AIM (Association of Independent Music), has been invited to give the 'keynote' address by way of proposing the special 'Harewood Toast'.
The Harewood Toast was introduced to provide an opportunity for a prominent member of the music, film and TV businesses to speak about the relationship they have with the studios and service providers that make their products.
The inaugural proposer of the Harewood Toast was Jeremy Lascelles, the son of the late Earl of Harewood, the founding President of the APRS.
The APRS's annual celebration, hosted by Sir George and Lady Martin, sees the recognition of six new recipients of the APRS Sound Fellowship bestowed on individuals who made a 'significant contribution to the art, science or business of sound recording.'
This year the association is recognising:
• John Borwick - Audio journalist/ Editor of Sound Recording Practice; Founder of
Surrey University's Tonmeister course.
• David Gilmour - Pink Floyd guitarist, vocalist and writer, owner of Astoria studio.
• Bruce Swedien - Engineer and mixer for Michael Jackson and many, many more.
• Pete Townshend - Rock guitarist and songwriter with The Who, author, founder of HEAR.
• Maggie Rodford - Film soundtrack producer, owner Air Edel, multi award winner
• Eddie Veale - Leading UK acoustic and studio designer; a passionate educator.
A special tribute will be paid to Keith Grant, APRS Fellow, who died earlier this year, by David Hamilton-Smith. The event will also take the opportunity to remember a number of key industry people who stood out in the Academy's voting.
Tickets for the Lunch can be booked online by going to: www.aprs.co.uk or phone APRS Head Office – 01803 868600. Special discounts are available for APRS and other trade body members.
Thanks to the generous support of APRS member, HHB Communications, this will be the first year the event will be recorded and edited on HD film to be added to the APRS archives. James Cumpsty, who has worked with the industry for many years, will be filming the proceedings.
For the second year running, both Genelec and Rode are supporting the event as Platinum sponsors, with API joining the group for the first year.
Focusrite RedNet have continued their support of the Lunch for the sixth year running, taking up the very popular spot of Wine sponsor, completing the guests' fine dining experience.
FX Rentals will be supplying the PA system.
